RIDERS will be able to steer their horse through obstacles and control their mount at the walk and trot. More advanced riders will have the opportunity to canter and perform dressage tests

NON RIDERS will be trained in ground work to perform advanced exercises with the horse/pony to demonstrate control and cooperation

 

 

   

Our horsemanship program is 16 weeks initially, with the opportunity to volunteer as an Assistant Instructor and remain a part of our organization after completion of the program. Lessons are taught by our Senior Instructor and Program Director, Barbara Rosoff, and are discounted so that students will not be prevented from joining our program due to financial considerations.

Program Features include:

  • Program discounted for the cancer patient and one family member
  • Programs for riders and non riders
  • 16 weeks long
  • Lessons are normally 1 ½ hour sessions
  • Students ideally attend the same day/time each week
  • Students receive a lesson manual on their first day
  • Students receive certificates as they complete different levels of training
  • Programs are completely customized for each student depending on age, horse knowledge, comfort around horses, health and physical ability
  • After completion, students have the opportunity to volunteer and remain part of the program

Upon completion of program, all participants will be competent in the following areas:

  • Halter and tack up horse/pony
  • Use grooming equipment correctly
  • Leading a horse/pony from left and right sides
  • Understanding horses and how they communicate their thoughts and emotions
