Horses have long been regarded as natural healers. It has been clinically documented that just being around horses changes human brainwave patters. We calm down and become more centered and focused. A substantial number of studies have explored the positive therapeutic effects of horses on people who live with a wide range of illnesses, including cancer. Research has shown that for people with cancer, working with horses can decrease anxiety, stress and depresion, while improving levels of pain, fatigue and cancer survival rate. Working with horses allows students to gain insight as it relates to emotions, communication, personal healing and inner strength and helps the body to focus more energy on physical recovery.
